Since you will be reading about my journey, I think it’s best I introduce myself. My name is Dulce Farias, I am a second year Anthropology major double minoring in Spanish and Italian. I am also a first-generation Promise Scholar. Before attending UCSB, I grew up in the underprivileged city of San Bernardino and had never traveled outside of the country. I just recently studied in Rome, Italy during the winter quarter of 2020. My reasoning behind picking Rome was that I wanted to learn a new language, I decided on Italian since I was interested in Italian culture. I specifically wanted to study abroad during winter quarter and my choices were between Rome and Florence, so I decided on Rome since it was a bigger city and I wanted to visit all of Rome’s main tourist attractions.
